Disability Support

Disability support will vary depending on individual needs. A few light domestic chores, assisting with medication, and helping with personal grooming and hygiene before an outing are the most common services our Disability Support Workers assist with. There’s also a significant element of providing emotional support, and communicating with the resident’s family and friends.

Therapy supports are for participants with an established disability to facilitate functional improvement, where maximum medical improvement has been reached. These support items can also be used for the assessment, planning, and delivery of Disability[1]Related Health Supports where these supports directly relate to a participant’s significant and permanent functional impairment and assist them to undertake activities of daily living.

SLES School Leaver Employment Supports

Capacity building supports are designed to empower individuals in finding and maintaining employment. These supports may include job search assistance, workplace assessment, and counselling. They are intended for working age individuals, including students nearing the end of their academic careers, who have a goal of finding employment in the open or supported labour market. Additionally, School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) are specifically tailored to assist students transitioning from school to employment. These supports begin during the final months of school and continue post-graduation, and focus on developing the skills and capacities necessary to achieve inclusive employment. The goal is to provide a comprehensive and personalized pathway to successful employment.

Counselling

School Leaver Employment Service - SLES

Our team work with the life skills and work skills in the one session. Our Counsellor will address anxiety for example in the session while working on work related skills. So, what the participant has available to them is a Counsellor in the session and skills learning at the same time.

Our Social Worker will work to assist the participant with life issues and at the same time be working with the work-related skills.

Our School Teacher has over 20 years of experience with children with disabilities in education. This a great advantage to the school leaver looking for work and learning new skills, as the experience brought to the session will enhance learning outcomes.

Mindfulness Meditation

Anxiety can make the heart and mind race with distressing thoughts of how bad things are or how easily everything could go wrong.

Mindfulness meditation helps children or adolescents, everybody, to use their senses to bring themselves fully into the moment. It uses guided imagery, breathing techniques and other practices to help children calm their nerves and relieve stress.

Vesta’s founder, Lynda, ran mindfulness meditation classes in schools and found that children experienced a deep and beautiful relaxation and were generally more calm and focused in the classroom.
